Rasor, Jean

1929 - 2021

Jean (Smith) Rasor, born March 15, 1929, passed into eternal life on October 5, 2021. She was the seventh child of Florence and Stanley P Smith. Preceded in death by her parents and loving husband Richard (Dick) of 56 years, her son Paul Rasor and her grandson USMC Sgt Jesse

Balthaser KIA 2010. Also predeceased by all her siblings. Graduate of Columbus Central High School and a member of the Class of ’47 Reunion Committee. 1951 graduate of Ohio State. She directed the Alma Mater during graduation in the Stadium. She was inducted into the Music Honorary Sorority, Delta Omicron. Being very family oriented she helped compile the C. M. Smith family genealogy. As an active and life-long member of West Park UMC she directed the choir, taught Sunday school and was a lay delegate to the West Ohio Conference. Jean was also the director of the Dodge Recreation Center Senior Chorus. She is survived by children, Terry (Linda) Rasor,

Nancy (Rick) Balthaser and Kathryn Rasor; daughterin-law, Annemarie Rasor; grandsons, Mark (Cara,) Todd (Carrie,) and Chad (Courtney) Rasor; and 4 great grandchildren. Also survived by sister-in-law, Carolyn Smith; brother-inlaw, Gary (Yovone) Rasor; many other family and friends. Family will receive friends at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH, Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021 from 5-8pm. Private interment at Sunset Cemetery. Celebration of Life Service will be at the former West Park UMC, 89 West Park Ave., Columbus 43222 on Sunday, October 17, 2021, 3PM. Family will receive friends starting at 2PM.
