Thomas, Jonathan “Mark”

-

Jonathan “Mark” Thomas of Centerburg, Ohio, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the age of 64. Mark was born in Louisville, KY to parents Robert “Paul” and Yvonne “Bonnie” (O’bryant) Thomas. When Mark was six years old the family moved to Westerville Ohio, where Mark would grow up and graduate from Westerville High School. Not one to be subtle about anything, Mark was the definition of “Larger than Life” both in form and personality. He was a man of extremes and could be intimidating, but, after working through his tough exterior, you found a giving friend who would do anything for you and often did, helping many, with his big and generous heart! An ornery kid at heart, being in his presence was hardly dull! He wasn’t afraid to push boundaries, break rules or get himself (and you) into trouble. He rarely took such things too seriously. It wasn’t unheard of for him to have you fuming, as he let out a big bellied laugh! Mark was a determined and successful entrepreneur, starting Thomas Excavating, LLC in 1987. A successful business still in operation today. To Mark, everything was a competition, especially if he could turn it into a race: family vacations, running to the grocery store, grocery carts, riding ATVS, an electric scooter, etc., it didn’t matter, it was a race and he was going to win and have fun doing it! This may explain why he was such a big fan of NASCAR and especially Dale Earnhardt. He met him several times and even had dinner with the 7-time champion on multiple occasions. It would seem that “Intimidators” are drawn to one another. Above all else though, Mark loved his family!! He lived intentionally and loved deeply! He adored his loving wife, children and his granddaughter, they meant everything to him and he cherished them and loved them with his whole heart! He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry “Duane” Thomas and sister Marci Blubaugh. Mark leaves behind his wife, Molly (James); his two children, Juli Louise and Christopher Clay Thomas; step-son, Charlie Foster; and granddaughter, Mira; brothers and sisters-in-law, Scott and Anne Thomas of Centerburg, Ohio, Doug and Debbie Thomas of Delaware, Ohio and Fern Thomas of Lake City, FL; brotherin-law, Michael Blubaugh or Utica, OH; the mother of his children, Michele (Dematteis) Thomas; along with many nieces and nephews, many extended family, friends and business associates, all of whom were in

fluenced by Mark’s love and
