Scarecrows among scenery at Dawes
Go to the Dawes Arboretum in Newark to soak in the changing leaves but stay for the plethora of imaginatively dressed scarecrows. For the second annual “Exstraw-dinary Scarecrows,” kicking off Oct. 16 and continuing until Oct. 31, more than 50 scarecrows — including those costumed to resemble superheroes, gardeners and a fisherman — were created by arboretum staff members and volunteers. The arboretum, at 7770 Jacksontown Road, is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for nonmembers and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and for members. Admission costs $10, or $5 for age 5 to 15, free for age 4 and younger; free for
members. (dawesarb.org)
