Erika Strawn, 78, of Upper Arlington, died Tuesday, November 9, 2021 after a battle with cancer. She was born December 14, 1942 in Kassel, Germany and was raised by her grandmothe­r, Dorthea Krug. Erika learned the value of hard work early by working in the family store in Bergshause­n. She married an American soldier and moved to the U.S. After divorcing she raised their three children by herself in Upper Arlington. Erika was always seeking to do better and provide for herself and her children. She worked a number of years in retail and at Lazarus in the shoe department. She put herself through cosmetolog­y school and through tenacity opened her own beauty shop in Grandview called The Beauty Nook. Later, she received her real estate license and succeeded at becoming a broker and creating her own real

estate firm. Erika married

Doug Strawn and enjoyed living in Dublin with many great neighbors. Upon Doug’s passing she moved back to Upper Arlington to be closer to family. Erika greatly enjoyed gardening,

especially flowers, travel

and deeply loved her dog Zeke. She is survived by her three children, Mike Moore of Columbus, Heidi (Pat) Pavoni of Upper Arlington and Virginia (Warren) Berry of Delaware; grandchild­ren, Savannah and Priscilla Moore, Nicholas Pavoni and Ryan and Stephanie Berry. At Erika’s request, no funeral service will be held. Family and friends will gather in the future for a celebratio­n of her life.
