John A. Shonkwiler, passed peacefully Sunday, November 21, 2021. John was born July 7, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio. John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Francine Shonkwiler; son, John C. Shonkwiler; daughter, Tracie (Ryan) Klinefelter; and granddaughters, Lauren and Alli. He is also survived by brothers, Ron Shonkwiler,

Jack (Kathy) Shonkwiler; sisters, Kay (Craig) Duffey, Joy (Jowdy) Johnson; and many special nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents Clifton and Frances Shonkwiler, and brother Ted Shonkwiler. John was a descendent of one of Dublin’s founding fathers and lived most of his life in Dublin. An active supporter of the Dublin community, John was a past member of the Dublin Volunteer Fire Department and Washington Perry Township Fire Board. He served 12 years as Perry Township Trustee and was president, charter member and honorary lifetime member of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. John earned many real estate and professional awards, including Realtor of the Year by the Columbus Board of

Realtors. John’s nephew Michael Duffey described John as “A man admired by those who knew and loved him. A man who met life with a courageous determination regardless of what life put in front of him. An infectious laugh and sense of humor. A gentle hand,

patient, selfless, the gift to

gab and turn of phrase. We cherish all the memories. May we exemplify in our lives all the qualities he has gifted to us.” A memorial service is being held on November 28, 2021 at 1PM at the Dublin Community

Church. In lieu of flowers,
