Woman, 7-year-old killed in condo fire
A woman and a child were killed early Tuesday morning after a fire in a Truro Township condominium.
The fire was reported at about 3:40 a.m. at 7189 Anne Court, according to 911 dispatch records.
Truro Twp. Fire Chief Jeff Sharps said a 10 year-old and 13-year-old were able to escape the fire and were not physically harmed. The children’s mother and a sibling were found dead inside the home.
Reynoldsburg police identified the mother as 31-year-old Yoko Scott and her son as 7-year-old Truly Harris.
Sharps said when fire crews arrived, there was heavy fire visible at the condo and it took crews additional time to safely make their way inside. There were smoke alarms inside, however, it was not immediately known if they were working.
Reynoldsburg City Schools Superintendent Melvin Brown posted on social media that Truly was a first-grade student at French Run Elementary School.
The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen and is not considered suspicious, Sharps said.
The next-door condo that was attached to the condo where the fire occurred had some light smoke damage, Sharps s but was not severely damaged in the blaze.
