Faith leaders set example for us to follow

-

To bring harmony to America, we first must embrace a more digitally connected, pluralistic society and leave room in our hearts to understand the thoughts and viewpoints of others.

My feeling is that faith leaders are the most important and most trusted at this moment in time. To move forward together, the sheep need to be fed. These leaders set the example to follow. It’s in the realm of faith that people are most willing to let down their guard and look through a lens of empathy.

Being within earshot of faith leaders – and especially in the presence of a higher power – often leads to one of the few quiet moments to be inspired toward love and compassion for others.

Quiet moments (including a break from social media) allow us to reflect on who we are, to know ourselves better, and to envision how humility and acts of kindness can play out in the reality of our everyday lives.

Division usually stems from fear. But if we take the time to focus on our commonalities, the fear of other viewpoints and the fear of change can be alleviated. Then we can move forward together – and do so as more authentic, respectful, and self-aware Americans.
