Police to host toy drive for homicide victims’ kids
As the holidays approach, some families are dealing with the unexpected loss of a loved one who was the victim of a homicide.
The children those victims left behind may be struggling this season with grief, but Columbus police are hoping to offer a moment of happiness.
Police are hosting a “Cram the Cruiser” toy drive at the Driving Park Community Center, located at 1100 Rhoads Ave., from 1 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 4.
Columbus officers will be at the Community Center in the parking lot, collecting new, unwrapped toys from those who want to donate. All the toys collected will be given to the families of homicide victims, as well as families who are struggling financially in Columbus. bbruner@dispatch.com @bethany_bruner
