Police identify man fatally shot Friday on the South Side
Columbus police have identified a man fatally shot during an altercation Friday afternoon on the city’s South Side.
Officers were called to the 700 block of Reinhard Ave. Friday around 12:30 p.m. on a report of a shooting, according to a police report.
When officers arrived, they found 39-year-old Christopher Miller suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Miller was taken to Ohiohealth Grant Medical Center in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries at 1:15 p.m.
Miller was in a parked vehicle near a residence on Reinhard Avenue when he became involved in a confrontation with another man, police said. During the altercation, the man shot Miller and fled the scene. It is unknown what started the altercation.
Miller’s death marks the 179th homicide in Columbus this year. shendrix@dispatch.com @sheridan120
