h Isabel Wilkerson: The author of “The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration” and “Caste: The Origins of Our Discontent­s” will appear in a Zoom event at 5 p.m. Dec. 1, part of Ohio State University’s Diversity Lecture & Cultural Arts Series. Wilkerson was the first African American woman to win the Pulitzer Prize in journalism. She is also winner of a National Humanities Medal. h David Sedaris: The essayist, bestsellin­g author and NPR contributo­r will appear in a live performanc­e at 7:30 p.m. Dec 2, in the Palace Theatre, 34 W. Broad St. Sedaris is celebratin­g the launch of two new books, “The Best of Me” and “A Carnival of Snackery.” The event will include an audience Q&A and book signing. According to CAPA guidelines, all those in the audience older than 12 must show proof of vaccinatio­n or a negative COVID19 test. Masks also are required. Tickets range from $54 to $64. h Brene Brown: The New York Times bestsellin­g author will launch her new book, “Atlas of the Heart: Mapping Meaningful Connection and the Language of Human Experience,” in a live-streamed event at 8 p.m. Dec. 2, presented by Random House publishers, Gramercy Books and other national bookstores. In her book, Brown discusses 87 of the emotions and experience­s that define what it means to be human as well as the skills needed for meaningful connection with others. Brown is a research professor at the University of Houston. Cost of the ticket for the online event, $30 plus tax, includes a hardcover copy of the book.
