Unselfish father gave life

-

This letter is to thank a father I’ve never met.

On Nov. 28, 1990, he made the ultimate sacrifice after his daughter’s death when he allowed her organs to be donated for transplant. In that one unselfish act, he gave life to my mother whose kidneys had failed because of the debilitating effects of diabetes.

Because of him, my father, my four brothers, my sister and ten grandchildren were blessed with having my mom with us for 13 more years.

My family thanks that father for his precious gift given during a time of tremendous grief and loss.

We encourage others to say yes to organ and tissue donation on their donor cards and driver’s licenses and to discuss the decision with their families.
