Buckeyes owe us no apologies for Saturday’s loss to Michigan
I felt small when I read the comments from the Ohio State football players apologizing for what happened on Saturday, and how, in their minds, they think they let us down. Who are we to put these young men of character in a position they need to apologize to us?
These fine young men include Haskell Garrett, who survived being shot in the face in 2020 while trying to break up an altercation between a man and a woman in the University District.
C.J. Stroud, whose first words when interviewed after every game, give thanks to God for giving him the abilities to do what he does.
Master Teague III, who has spoken to our congregation — not about the Buckeyes, but sharing his faith in God, and that God is the center of, and motivation in, life. He has had multiple serious injuries but continues to try to get out on the football field every Saturday for the fan’s enjoyment.
These young men owe us no apologies.
We should feel humbled that we have such quality young men playing for OSU, and teaching us life lessons on how to be better people.
Thank you to every player for first being a human being, for demonstrating integrity and for showing us what our priorities should be. May your lives continue to touch others in such a positive way.
Go Bucks and go, you “Men of Character.” Donald Blum, Canal Winchester
