Man arrested in connection with Sept. homicide
A Reynoldsburg man has been arrested and charged in connection with the Sept. 12 shooting death of a South Side man.
Garland Williams, 45, was arrested without incident on Wednesday by a Columbus police SWAT team.
Williams has been charged with murder for the Sept. 12 shooting death of 24-year-old Guann Gregory, of the
South Side.
According to court records, Gregory was shot around 5 p.m. Sept. 12 on the 1200 block of Brookway Road, on the city's East Side. He was rushed in critical condition to Ohiohealth Grant Medical Center, where he later died.
Williams was identified as a suspect on Sept. 15 and a warrant for his arrest was filed.
During a Thursday morning appearance in Franklin County Municipal Court, Judge Jim O'grady ordered Williams
be held in the county jail in lieu of a $3 million bond.
As of Thursday, Columbus homicide detectives had cleared 91 of the city's 181 homicides in 2021, for a solve rate of just over half, or 50.2%, in this record year for killings in the city.
