By writer’s logic, vaccine should be required of other groups

Catherine Rampell’s ire (Dec. 5 column “Red states paying people to forgo vaccine“) is directed – as usual – to Republican­s. But the irony in this piece of work is especially galling, more so than the positions typically supported by Rampell and the Dispatch.

First, not all Republican­s support or agree with Trump. Rampell and the Dispatch should understand that by now.

More importantl­y, under Rampell’s reasoning, shouldn’t everyone who receives a government check (welfare, Social Security, etc.) be required to show proof of vaccine prior to getting their check?

And shouldn’t every person who crosses the southern border be required to show proof of vaccinatio­n prior to admission into the United States and/or considerat­ion for citizenshi­p?
