Restaurants that do not require vaccination proof should be boycotted
Thanks to Patrick Cooley for his Dec. 12 article “Natalie’s takes stand: No shots, no entry.”
Thanks also for including Ohio Restaurant Association President John Barker’s appalling comment regarding vaccination practices of Ohio restaurants, “It’s 1% of restaurants at best.”
From my perspective, the fact that Barker and the association are not actively promoting checking proof of vaccination at all restaurants makes them complicit in the spreading of the virus and the related hospitalizations and deaths.
I understand that servers and other restaurant staff have experienced aggression by anti-vaccination patrons.
However, accommodating the aggressive behavior puts all patrons, including those of us that are vaccinated, at risk of getting the virus.
Prior to the pandemic aggressive behavior by patrons would result in being refused access or service, now it is rewarded. As a result of Barker’s remark, I will not patronize the other 99% of restaurants, and I encourage other vaccinated patrons to boycott restaurants that don’t check and let them know why.
I suggest that those restaurants that are doing the right thing join together to let us know who they are so we can support them.
