LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

-

Note from Opinion Editor Amelia Robinson:the following are reader responses to Jane Timken’s guest column “‘Parents First’ will save kids from progressives,” Dec. 15.

Timken is a candidate for the U.S. Senate and is the former chair of the Ohio Republican Party. No letters were submitted in support of Timken’s possession in time for publication in this edition.

If Timken spouts only ‘nonsense,’ she shouldn’t be on ballot

Timken has some outlandish ideas about children’s education.

First, she is not an educator and has no idea the responsibilities teachers have in a classroom. Just maintaining a degree of order is foremost!

I volunteer three days a week in three different elementary schools.

The teachers are dedicated and hardworking. The school board of this district has monthly meetings, open to the public, dates of which are published in the newspaper. If a parent wishes to speak at a meeting permission is granted in advance.

Sex education has been taught in the higher grades for some time and no one has complained.

Her statement, “We’ve let COVID fear-mongering control our children’s future for far too long,” is a stupid statement.

As a retired nurse, I am well aware of the dangers to our population from those who refuse vaccination based on untruths about the vaccine.

The theory of race was begun by a group of intellectuals. These people were interested in how the levels of economics affected our country.

It has nothing to do with race in regards to African Americans who, in 1619, were forced into slavery by greedy white men.

If this nonsense is all she has to offer, stay off the ballot.
