Timken needs to stop ranting and address real issues families face
In this case, a mother’s fierce love — and I believe Ms. Timken loves her children deeply— is overwhelmed by a curious anger completely disconnected from facts on the ground.
A “Parents’ Bill of Rights” is silly and redundant.
Schools have always welcomed parents’ involvement. Ask any teacher yearning for classroom volunteers.
Schools historically have provided families the choice to opt out of curricula (e.g., books; sex education) parents would rather their children not encounter. Think of teachers as partners, not enemies, Ms. Timken.
Critical race theory isn’t a thing at the K-12 level.
It just isn’t.
Schools already post their curricula online, as any Mom or Dad who has navigated Schoology (or equivalent learning management system) will tell you.
A school district’s budget is already public. Local citizens can attend as many school board meetings as they wish. It’s called democracy.
Timken’s rant is a collection of pathetic
