Saturday is Christmas. Because of the holiday:

• Columbus city and other local, county, state and federal government offices will close Friday in observance of the federal holiday for Christmas and remain closed until Monday.

• There will be no regular mail delivery Saturday. Priority Mail Express mail will be delivered Saturday/christmas Day in limited locations for an additional fee. Post offices will be open Friday/christmas Eve, though some may have extended hours while others may have limited hours. Search online for “Find USPS Locations” and enter your ZIP Code to check hours for specific local post office locations. Mail will be picked up at blue collection boxes on Friday, but it is recommende­d you drop your mail in the collection box before noon regardless of what collection time is listed.

• Parking meters in Columbus will be free on Saturday, Christmas Day, but parking restrictio­ns will remain at some meters, such as in residentia­l parking permit areas and zones marked for valets, taxis and loadings. Motorists are advised to read signs. The Columbus Parking Violations Bureau and Right-of-way Permits Office will be closed Friday for the government holiday and reopen Monday. • There will be no Columbus trash collection on Friday. For residents assigned a collection color, trash pickup will rotate forward by one day this week. For Ruby collection areas, a collection will be made on Thursday, Dec. 23.

Rumpke’s recycling and yard waste collection­s will run as scheduled this week, including Friday/christmas Eve. Households should set out their recycling container and yard waste by 6 a.m. on Friday.

• All Columbus Metropolit­an Library locations will be closed Friday and Saturday. Due to a staffing shortage, the library system is also closed on Sundays through at least Jan. 9.

• The Central Ohio Transit Authority will operate on a regular schedule Saturday/christmas Day. COTA’S customer service call center, as well as the pass sales office at 33 N. High St., will be closed Saturday.

• Ohio State University campus offices will close Thursday and remain closed through Wednesday, Dec. 29, reopening Thursday, Dec. 30, according to the university’s human resources calendar online. There are no classes; classes will resume Jan. 10. Columbus State Community College campus offices will be closed Saturday through Jan. 2, reopening Jan. 3. There are no classes; spring semester classes will begin Jan. 17.
