SAN DIEGO — Jacy Sheldon, Braxtin Miller and Taylor Mikesell each reached double figures as the 24th-ranked Ohio State women's basketball team defeated San Diego State 66-54 on Tuesday.

Sheldon led all players with 19 points and Miller tied her season high with 16. With 15 points, Mikesell continued her streak of scoring in double figures and scoring at least one 3-point basket in each of the first 11 games of the season.

The Buckeyes are 9-2. San Diego State is 6-5.

Ohio State led 35-30 at halftime and did not allow an SDSU field goal for the first 7:30 of the second half.

“Overall, I thought we were pretty good defensively today — our effort was good, our intensity was good," said Ohio State coach Kevin Mcguff. "The thing we weren't doing well in the first half was blocking out really well. In the second half, we got that together and put it together with good rebounding and good defense.”

Miller hit a buzzer-beating half-court shot to give the Buckeyes a 51-41 advantage heading into the final quarter.

“When I shot it, it felt good, but part of you always thinks ‘no way that's about to go in,' " Miller said. "When I shot it, it felt good and it kept being right on target and then I thought it really might go in. I was shocked and excited like everybody else.”

The win closed out non-conference play for the Buckeyes. They are next scheduled to hit the road to face Michigan with a noon tip on New Year's Eve.
