Richard Duarte Brown personifies ‘Art in the Community’

-

The art of Richard Duarte Brown is a witness to life “as it is” and “as it happens” in and around Columbus (Dec. 18 article, “Brown selected for Aminah Robinson Fellowship”).

Central to the unfolding of his art will be the cadre of young people drawn in to share a vision of the wonder and color and dynamics of ordinary people entering into the joy of the day.

The depth of his humanity shows through when he invites a young person near him take up a brush and contribute to one of his own pieces.

This is the meaning of Art In the Community — the offering of one becoming the work of many who make us all joyfully alive and then, the next artist emerges.
