She was born on July 23, 1935 in Edmondson Arkansas to the late Emmett and Carrie (Davis) Galloway. In the days of her youth, Gladys attended East High School in Columbus, Ohio. After high school, she began her career as a Nurses Aide at Riverside Hospital. A devoted and faithful member of The Community of Holy Rosary and St. John Catholic Church, Gladys served as a mass lector and as an organizer and worker in the food pantry. She had a passion for baking Pound Cakes and donated them to the Church during fund raisers. Lady Gladys Mcclain, was a founding member and Fourth Degree of the Ladies Auxiliary St. Cyprian Court 298, in Columbus, OH. A Catholic Christian organization which is a part of The

She was awarded a plaque for 25 years of service for her membership within the organization and her service to the Community. Gladys held true to Sister Dominica’s saying of, “no half stepping, once a Lady always a Lady.” At the core of her heart was the love and dedication to her three girls, Debbie, Sherry and Kim. She wanted to make sure that they were educated, strong, independent and loving women. Using her quick wit, sharp tongue and drive to always do and be the best, she set the standards for the success of her daughters. Gladys was always available, regardless of her daughters’ locations.
