Columbus police identify Dayton man hit, killed on Dec. 20 walking on Interstate 70

Columbus police have identified a pedestrian who was hit and killed last week after he darted in front of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 70 as a man from Dayton.

Christophe­r Flowers, 34, had been walking around 3 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, on the side of the westbound lane of the interstate near Hamilton Road when police said he suddenly entered into the path of the oncoming truck and was hit. The area of the crash was on the city’s East Side on a portion of the highway with no pedestrian access. Police reported finding no disabled vehicles nearby.

Flowers, whose age was listed as 21 years old in an initial crash report, was taken to Ohiohealth Grant Medical Center, where he died within an hour. elagatta@dispatch.com @Ericlagatt­a
