Peter Samuel Soter, age 74, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. A son of an immigrant father who came to the United States from Greece at the age of 18 and a Greek and Polish American mother, he was born on November 15, 1947, in Manhattan, New York, at New York Polytechnic Hospital. After his high school graduation, he served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and was honorably discharged. He was extremely hardworking and dedicated nearly 48 years of his life to the United States Postal Service employed in various roles. He enjoyed spending time with his family, lighthouses, taking long drives, going out to eat, playing and watching tennis, reading, watching movies, and working on puzzles. He will always be remembered for his dedication to his career and providing for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Soter, and brother Angelo Soter. He was survived by his ex-wife, Linda Taylor Carey; uncle, James A. Dosher; children, Michael James (Regina) Soter, Matthew Peter George (Amy) Soter, Elizabeth Mary Eloise (Eric) Richards, and Mary Linda Taylor (Tim) Lander; grandchild, Claire Eloise Soter; nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends. The family plans to celebrate his life at Lake Erie, next to his favorite lighthouse Marblehead this summer. May his memory be eternal!
