Chipotle Mexican Grill releases plant-based chorizo

-

Chipotle Mexican Grill’s new menu item might make it easier to keep New Year’s plant-based eating resolutions.

The fast-casual chain announced the nationwide launch of plantbased chorizo. Chipotle said in a news release that the new protein, available for a limited time, is “made using all real, fresh ingredients grown on a farm, not in a lab.”

The chorizo was tested in restaurants in Denver and Indianapolis in August 2021.

Chipotle said the plant-based chorizo is certified vegan, packed with 16 grams of protein per 4-ounce serving, and is made without artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, grains, gluten or soy. It can be found in three new “lifestyle bowls” available on the Chipotle app and at Chipotle.com.
