Caity Iona Haughey, 24, of Pataskala, passed away on December 30, 2021. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on June 16, 1997 to Chris Haughey and Diana Heischman. Caity was preceded in death by her grandfathe­r James Edward Courts and her uncle Jeffrey Rittenhous­e. Caity will be remembered as a free spirit with an infectious smile. In high school, Caity demonstrat­ed a multitude of talents in the marching band, swim team, track team, and orchestra. Her love of horses began when Caity was a teenager and developed into a career as a horse groomer; she even tamed a wild horse that no one else could train! Caity loved candy, milkshakes, coloring, and music (especially the Grateful Dead and the Rolling Stones). She brought light and joy to all who knew her, and never passed judgment on others. Caity will be greatly missed by her son, Stone Hawk; mother, Diana Heischman; father, Chris Haughey; brothers, Jordan Haughey and Connor Haughey; grandparen­ts, Michael (Diana) Heischman and Tom (Betty) Haughey; Cheriolyn Mccloud Courts; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Family will welcome friends on Friday, January 7, 2022 from 11am-1pm at SCHOEDINGE­R NORTHEAST FUNERAL HOME, 1051 E Johnstown Rd, Gahanna. A funeral service will immediatel­y follow at the funeral home. Interment will take place after the service at Maplewood Cemetery in New Albany. Caity’s family requests that everyone wear their brightest, colorful clothing or tie dye in honor of Caity. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a memorial fund for Caity’s son, Stone Hawk. Checks may be sent to Schoedinge­r Northeast Funeral Home, ATTN: family of Caity Haughey with “Caity Haughey memorial fund” in the memo line.
