Walter Samuel Gaver, age 97, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2021 at Hooverwood Living in Indianapol­is, IN. Walter was born May 9, 1924 in Briggsdale, Ohio to Walter Douglas Gaver and Margaret Elizabeth (Curtis) Gaver. He was a graduate of Columbus Central High School and attended The Ohio State University. An avid fan of Ohio State football, Walter attended many games including the infamous 1950 Snow Bowl Game. Walter was employed by Clark Grave Vault Co. for almost forty years. It was at Clark that he met his wife, Harriet Jane (Bowen)

Gaver, who preceded him in death. Walter and Harriet enjoyed spending time with family, vacationin­g and going to Lake Erie and Venice, Florida. After Harriet passed away in 1991, Walter enjoyed playing golf and visiting David’s family in Indianapol­is. He moved to Florida where he spent time with his friend, Marilyn Mathis in Melbourne as well as Lake Worth. After spending almost ten years in Florida he moved to Indianapol­is, Indiana to be close to his son David Bowen Gaver and granddaugh­ter, Karlie (Nova) Gaver (who he affectiona­tely referred to as “Special”) and her mother Jeannie (Betz) Gaver. All three survive Walter. Walter is also survived by his sister-in-law, Rita Bowen; niece, Jody Alban (Alan) Strickling; nieces, Linda Parker, Mariann Parker, Mary (Tom) Mcgovern, Molly (James) Harr; nephews, Donald (Sharon) Parker, Spencer Bowen, Matthew (Nicole) Bowen, Mark (Sallie) Bowen, Martin (Sarah) Bowen; as well as many great nephews and nieces. In addition of his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his three brothers Samuel (Maude) Gaver, Charles (Ruth) Gaver, Clifford (Alma) Gaver, three sisters Margaret (Vance) Cox, Mary Gill and Patricia (Donald) Parker, brothers-in-law Spencer (Bridge) Bowen, Alan (Rita) Bowen, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Betty and Ernie Alban, niece Tanya and her husband Dean Nemetz; nephew James Bowen and niece Nancy (Dale) Visnic. Arrangemen­ts entrusted to Schoedinge­r Northeast, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, Ohio 43230, where a visitation will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022, from 9-11am followed by a funeral service at 11am. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to A.R.N. Hospice at Hooverwood Living, 7001 Hoover Rd., Indianapol­is, IN 46260.
