- Eric Lagatta Columbus Dispatch USA TODAY NETWORK

A Madison County woman was killed Wednesday morning after Ohio troopers say she drove her pickup truck into the wrong lane of traffic and crashed head-on into a tractor-trailer.

The Ohio Highway Patrol's West Jefferson post said the crash occurred at 11:40 a.m. on Route 38 north of Linson Road in Paint Township in southern Madison County.

Troopers reported in a release that 34-year-old Ashlee L. Townsend of Sedalia (a Range Township village sometimes called Midway) was driving a silver 2007 Dodge Ram south on Route 38 and went left-of-center, crashing into a northbound tractor-trailer.

Townsend died at the scene, troopers said. The driver of the tractor-trailer, a man from Corbin, Kentucky, was treated at Ohiohealth Grant Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, troopers said.

Townsend was wearing a seatbelt, troopers reported. The investigation into the crash continues.
