Eclipse’s 2022 season to serve witty food for thought

Eclipse Theatre Company, a six-yearold community theater company with a focus on plays rarely staged in Columbus, has announced its 2022 season.

“Eclipse has chosen a somewhat lighter 2022 season, thought-provoking but with an emphasis on humor, to entertain audiences returning after the pandemic shutdowns,” Artistic Director Kathy Sturm said.

All shows will be performed Thursdays through Saturdays at the troupe’s 46-seat performing space at 915 Schrock Road.

● “One Slight Hitch,” Jan. 28 to Feb. 13: Comedian Lewis Black’s romantic comedy about a wedding that goes crazy.

● “Rounding Third,” March 11-27: Richard Dresser’s comedy follows two Little League coaches with different coaching approaches through an entire season.

● “Rancho Mirage,” April 22 to May 8: Steven Dietz’s dark comedy revolves around three old-friend couples revealing truths at a dinner party.

● “Too Much Sun,” June 3-19: Nicky

Silver’s off-broadway tragicomed­y centers on a temperamen­tal actress stirring up family and romantic issues during a seaside summer.

● “Four Weddings and an Elvis,” July 22 to Aug. 7: Nancy Frick’s comedy revolves around a Las Vegas wedding chapel proprietor.

● “Exit Laughing,” Sept. 9-25: Paul Elliott’s comedy focuses on three Southern women experienci­ng a wild night after a friend’s inconvenie­nt death.

● “Surviving Grace,” Oct. 21 to Nov. 6: Trish Vradenburg’s semi-autobiogra­phical comic drama probes a tumultuous relationsh­ip between a workaholic daughter and her Alzheimer’s-afflicted mother.

● “Slow Food,” Dec. 2-18: Wendy Macleod’s comedy about marriage centers on a middle-aged couple reviewing their lives while stressed out by an overbearin­g waiter on their first vacation.
