Jessica Ralston set to return on-air Monday after surgery, coronavirus

- Allison Ward

The past few weeks something has been missing from the popular “Good Day Columbus” morning show on WSYX-TV and WTTE-TV.

And fans have noticed. Morning anchor Jessica Ralston took to Facebook late last week to alert Channel 6 and 28 viewers that a case of COVID-19 had landed her in the emergency room with “severe symptoms.”

“I am vaccinated and boosted but I had surgery in December and am prone to acute bronchitis, so it hit me very hard,” she wrote in the post from Jan. 7.

“For some people, this virus has no symptoms, or is like a flu/cold,” she continued. “For me, it has been hell and as we now know, there are people who do not survive this.”

Her post stated that she would be back at the station working behind the scenes this week and then would return on-air Monday.

In an earlier post on Facebook from Christmas Eve, Ralston wrote she was enjoying “my ‘winter break’ from work,” so the anchor already had some time off from air the end of the year. award@dispatch.com @Allisonaward
