South Side man killed in high-speed, rollover crash

- Bethany Bruner

Columbus police say a South Side man died Monday afternoon after driving his pickup truck through a stop sign, getting hit by another vehicle and rolling over into a tree.

According to a crash report, 30year-old Terry Bragg was driving north on Oakwood Avenue on the South Side in a 2012 Ford F-150 pickup truck around 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Bragg's truck was estimated to be going about 70 mph in a 25 mph speed limit area, according to the crash report, and did not stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Oakwood Avenue and Lawrence Drive.

The pickup truck was struck in the back driver's side by a 2011 Ford Flex that was headed east on Lawrence Drive. There is no stop sign at the intersection for drivers on Lawrence Drive, according to the report.

The pickup truck went off the right side of the roadway and rolled, striking a tree. Bragg was pinned in the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene. The crash report said he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Ford Flex, 22-yearold Jahlisa Mcintyre, also of the South Side, was taken to Ohiohealth Grant Medical Center for treatment of serious but not life-threatening injuries. A 5-year-old in Mcintyre's vehicle was not injured.

The crash, which is believed to be the first fatal crash in the city in 2021, remains under investigation. bbruner@dispatch.com @bethany_bruner
