1927 - 2022


Norma Jean Taylor (called Meme by her Grandchild­ren), age 95, went home to be with her Lord on February 17, 2022. She was born on January 2, 1927 in Golden, Illinois to Ehme and Sarah Golden. Norma was an Upper Arlington resident since 1965. She graduated from Capital University in 1949 with a Bachelor of School Music degree. Norma began her teaching career in Prairie City, Illinois then continued in Columbus at Southwood School and also as the mu

ry Schools. She finished her

teaching career at Barrington

Elementary School as a music teacher from 1971 to 1989. Norma was a member of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Phi Beta Psi Iota Xi, Columbus chapter, for 65 years whose mission is to help

the fight against cancer.

She held all local chapter

offices including President

and was the National Secretary of Phi Beta Psi from 1987 to 1989, important years of service in her life. Norma loved to spend time with her grandchild­ren and enjoyed watching their plays, concerts, recitals and following their athletic events. She was a lifelong Chicago Cub fan and her proudest moments were the Cub’s 1938 National League Championsh­ip and the 2016 World Series Championsh­ip. Norma was preceded in death by her parents Sarah and Ehme Golden and her loving husband Wilbur (Web) Taylor; her three sisters Agnes Geissler, Esther Sanders and Ellen Jones and her two brothers Eldon Golden and Pete Goldenstei­n. She will be greatly missed by sons, Brent (Marianne) Taylor and Kim (Sharon) Taylor; grandchild­ren, Alex (Chenyu) Taylor, Ashley (Jason), Meyer, Margaret “Maggie” Taylor, and Ian Taylor; and great grandchild­ren, Taylor, Charlotte and Harper Meyer. The Taylor and Meyer families are especially appreciati­ve and wish to thank National Church Residences caregivers Brenda, Annamarie, Madeline, and many others, all of whom provided love and support

throughout Norma’s final
