Ohio State swim team takes ninth at NCAA finals

The Ohio State women's swimming and diving team finished ninth in the NCAA Championsh­ips on Saturday in Atlanta as Virginia won its second consecutiv­e national title.

It is the second consecutiv­e year the Buckeyes finished in the top 10, taking seventh last year. The team's 27 Allamerica honors this year ranks second to the 28 honors achieved last year.

Maya Geringer swam to a career-best time of 15:59.82 to place ninth in the 1,650 freestyle, and Katherine Zenick placed 14th in the 100 freestyle in 47.85. The 400 freestyle team of Zenick, Amy Fulmer, Emily Crane and Teresa Ivan finished ninth in a time of 3:11.44.
