Gene Paul King, born July 4, 1933, in Zanesville, Ohio to Chester and Lillian (Brennan) King, died peacefully, on March 27 in Columbus, Ohio. Gene was preceded in death by his brother William, and sisters Marjorie Clark, Rita Pfeifer, and Sister Virginia King, O.P. Gene married Margaret Jane Bridges on June 17, 1958 and she predecease­d him on April 29, 2001. Gene is survived by his five children who all reside in Columbus, Anne King (Phil Georgenson), G. Paul King, D.D.S. (Karen Guss King, M.D.), Joan King, D.O. (B.J. Pomerants, M.D.),

John Chester King (Sandy Carr), and Thomas King (Laura King). He is also survived by grandchild­ren, Christophe­r King, D.D.S., Katie King, Sarah Pomerants, D.O., Anne Pomerants, Michael Pomerants; step-grandchild­ren, Laurie Georgenson (Scott Rice), Michael Georgenson (Katie Georgenson), Samantha Greene, and Alyssa Greene; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and step-great-grandchild­ren. Gene is also survived by and will be greatly missed by his long-time companion, Connie Smythe. Gene graduated from Bishop Rosecrans High School in Zanesville, and The Ohio State University in 1955. He was in the R.O.T.C. at O.S.U. from 1951 – 1955 and Commission­ed Second Lieutenant, U.S. Army. He was in Active Duty in 1956 and the U.S. Army Reserve from 1957 – 1963 and was Honorably Discharged at the Rank of Captain. Gene enjoyed a long career in state government, associatio­n management, political consulting and lobbying, and was the founder and president of Gene P. King & Associates from 1963 – 1998. Gene was the ultimate gentleman and was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfathe­r, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed. The family especially appreciate­s the immense support provided over the years by Peadar Lynch, a good friend from St. Andrew parish, and Linda Mabane, his wonderful and devoted caregiver. Calling Hours will be Wednesday, March 30 from 4-7pm at Egan-ryan Northwest Chapel, 4661 Kenny Road, Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 Mccoy Road on Thursday, March 31 at 10am. Father Michael Watson, Celebrant. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
