Gloria Flemming, age 73. Gloria Flemming 1948 - 2022, crossed the finish line and entered her eternal reward surrounded by her family on March 22. Gloria was born to Clyde and Rena Schmitt in St. Louis, Missouri. In the summer of 1969, Gloria married Lawrence Chambers and they welcomed their son Curt a year later. They went to Jamaica as missionari­es before Larry passed away in 1971 of leukemia. With the support of family in St. Louis, Gloria went back to school and graduated with a degree in Special Education from Harris Teachers College. She married Duane Flemming in 1974 and the new family of three moved to Columbus to found the campus ministry Agape Fellowship. Later that ministry grew to become Christian Community Church where Gloria was instrument­al in developing and leading many of the ministries. She loved people and always worked to create fun environmen­ts to communicat­e the gospel especially among the children. She also was very passionate about world missions and travelled and ministered in nineteen countries on five continents. Gloria is survived by husband, Duane; children, Curt (Joy) Flemming, Andrew (Lindsay) Flemming, and Alesha (Chris) Wood; grandchild­ren, Glorianna (Devon) Flanagan, Hannah, Chloe, Asha, Eli, August, and Adelyn; siblings, Cheryl (Paul) Mueller and Ken (Linda) Schmitt; brotherin-law, Donald Flemming; and three sisters-in-law on the Chambers side, Jean Cowell, Judy (Bob) Bentley, and Jerolyn (Bob) Kelley. A special memorial service followed by a carnival for kids will be held to celebrate her life on April 23 at 1pm at Christian Community Church, 5586 Olentangy River Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Tying Vines Ukranian crisis response.
