Lady A, Rick Springfield to headline 2022 Lancaster Festival
LANCASTER — Lancaster Festival Executive Director Deb Connell has a lofty goal for this year’s event which features rocker Rick Springfield, country act Lady A and Elton John tribute artist Elton Rohn.
“We’re hoping to break our all-time attendance record,” she said. “I hope to do it with both (Saturday shows). They’re really great names. Both have a huge fan base.”
The Beach Boys set the record of about 15,000 in 2011 at Ohio University’s Wendel Concert Stage.
The 35th festival will run from July 21 to July 30. Tickets are now on sale at www.lancasterfestival.org, at the festival office at 117 W. Wheeling St. or by calling 740 687-4808.
Springfield will perform on July 23, Elton Rohn on July 27 and Lady A will close the festival on July 30.
Lady A and Springfield will perform with the Lancaster Festival Orchestra. Rohn will perform with part of the orchestra’s string section.
“We’re very excited this year,” Connell said. “The board took a leap of faith with me to go after more popular and more relevant names. We want to make everybody happy and be able to put the artists on our stage that the community wants to see.”
Tickets for the Lady A and Springfield are $40 for general admission and $55 and $50 for table seats. Tickets for those 3 to 17 are $10.
Tickets for the Elton Rohn show are $25. Groups can also reserve a table of 10 for $250 at that show.
Lady A tunes include “Need You Now,” “Bartender” and “Like a Lady.”
Springfield is best known for “Jessie’s Girl,” “Affair of the Heart,” “Don’t Talk to Strangers” and more. He also once portrayed Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital.
In 2019, Springfield released his 17th studio album, “Orchestrating My Life,” in which he performed his hits with an orchestra. His local performance is part of his tour playing with symphony orchestras throughout the United States and the world.
This year will mark the return of most of the indoor events that the festival board canceled last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
There will also be a car raffle again this year. Coughlin Kia of Lancaster is donating a 2022 Kia Telluride and raffle tickets are now on sale at the festival website.
A schedule of events will be released in the coming months at www.lancasterfestival.org.
