Agave & Rye adds 2 locations in May
Will be in Short North, Grandview Heights
Kentucky-based tequila and bourbon hall Agave & Rye is set to expand to Columbus later this spring.
The concept is by former greater Columbus restauranteurs Yavonne and Wade Sarber, the duo behind previous Columbus restaurants Denovo on the Park, Olivers Burgers, Steaks and Bourbon and Vonn Jazz Lounge.
Early this May, the Sarbers will open two Agave & Rye locations in Grandview Heights and the Short North. Last summer, it was announced Agave & Rye would replace Spagio at 1295 Grandview Ave. Now, the restaurant will also set up shop at 479 N. High St. as part of an “aggressive” expansion plan announced via news release.
The previously announced Grandview location will seat 250 guests indoors and 40 guests on an outdoor patio, while the Short North location will seat 140 guests and 90 guests on an outdoor patio.
The restaurant will offer new menu items in addition to its “epic” tacos, featuring nontraditional ingredients such as truffled lobster mac and cheese, kangaroo, mac and cheese pancake beignets, puffy tacos, birria tacos and ramen. The menu will also feature modern and traditional crafted cocktails, including jalapeño pineapple margaritas and black cherry, mango and habanero slushies, according to the release.
Both Grandview and Short North locations will feature unique decor. Agave & Rye's interior is described as “urban grunge” with a soundtrack that includes music spanning 1980s pop to contemporary hits.
Agave & Rye currently has locations in four states across the South and Midwest.
“This is an extremely exciting expansion for Agave & Rye,” said Yavonne Sarber, co-founder and CEO of Agave & Rye, in the news release. “For years, we've had fans online and in person asking when we'd be expanding throughout Ohio, and it makes us so, so happy to finally be able to announce to all those who have been waiting in Columbus: ‘We are finally here.'” tmoorman@dispatch.com @Taijuannichole
