Wolfe, Nellie Yates

-

1926 - 2022

Nellie Yates Wolfe passed away peacefully in her sleep April 19, 2022. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, on July 6, 1926, to the late Shelley Benjamin and Matilda (Gornall) Yates. Nellie attended Pataskala High School, went on to work more than two decades at Western Electric, and was married to Millard T. Wolfe (Buss) for 38 years. She enjoyed the Ohio State University Buckeyes and going to garage sales, and she stayed busy in her later years playing Rummikub and spending quality time with her beloved sisters and friends. A long-time resident of Gahanna, Nellie and her twin sister, Della, were often mistaken for one another by local merchants; especially when they visited within the same day. This brought them both a great chuckle! In addition to her parents, Nellie is preceded in death by her sisters Christina Mcgatha, Rose Mears, and Flo Wheeler, and brothers Earl, Henry, Walter, and John

Yates. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Larry (Kathy) and Dale Wolfe; and her daughter, Linda Luckeydoo; loving sisters, Della Duris (Nellie’s twin), Nettie Miller, and Mabel Brandt; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Nellie’s son, Dale, who was an expert caregiver the last two and a half years. A private celebratory memorial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nellie’s name to: G.R.I.N. Gahanna Residents in Need, PO Box 307563, Gahanna, Oh 43230 or www.grin4gahanna.com.
