Eastmoor boys lead area at regional meet

The Eastmoor Academy sprinters helped the Warriors finish third in the Division II boys regional track and field meet that ended Saturday at Lexington.

Senior Isaiah Pressley won the 400 meters (48.95 seconds) and junior Christian Monroe was runner-up in the 100 (11.05) and 200 (22.25) as Eastmoor scored 52 points. Sandusky Perkins (79) won and Toledo Catholic Central (66) was runner-up. Watterson (37) was eighth.

Gates Mills Gilmour Academy (73) won the girls title ahead of runner-up Toledo Catholic (56).

The top four finishers in each event qualified for state Friday and Saturday at Ohio State. In addition, two at-large berths are awarded in each event based on time, height or distance statewide.

Eastmoor also qualified for state in two relays. Pressley and seniors Maurice Harrison, Devin Lloyd and Jayden Milligan were third in the 1,600 relay (3:25.39), and Pressley, Monroe, sophomore Tderyan Lewis and senior Jaeden Valdez were fourth in the 800 relay (1:28.75).

Watterson senior Max Latshaw won the 3,200 in 9:39.52, and junior teammate Finn Kephart was third in 9:40.5.

Centennial senior Daishaun Gossett

was runner-up in the 300 hurdles (39.17) and third in the 110 hurdles (15.13).

Also winning events were Heath senior Huntyr Butler (110 hurdles, 14.03), Bloom-carroll junior Dylan Chittum (shot put, 55 feet, 1/4 inch) and Utica senior Jay Figgins (1,600, 4:23.5).

Bexley junior Mason Louis qualified in the 100, 200 and 400 but did not compete because of injury. Last spring at state, he won the 400 (47.54), placed third in the 100 (11.16) and finished fifth in the 200 (22.46).

In the girls meet, Sparta Highland junior Juliette Laracuente won the long jump (18-1/4) and 100 hurdles (14.86). Columbus South senior Spiritual Wilson Foster Wright won the 200 (25.62).

Licking Valley junior Reagan Campbell won the 400 (56.82) and was third in the 100 (12.64). Northridge freshman Isabel Evans won the 300 hurdles (44.9) and was fourth in the 100 hurdles (15.46).
