Central Ohio Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the people responsible for a January homicide.

Around 6:10 p.m. on Jan. 5, Rashawn Garner, 38, of the Northeast Side, was found shot on the 1700 block of Sullivant Avenue in Columbus’ Hilltop neighborhood. He was rushed to Ohiohealth Grant Medical Center, but died from his injuries.

Garner had two children, according to his obituary, and was also survived by his fiancée and a large extended family.

Columbus police homicide detectives said their investigation identified multiple suspects, who were also under investigation by the Drug Enforcement Agency. A joint investigation was launched between the two agencies, resulting in multiple arrests that are unrelated to Garner’s homicide.

Police believe an argument between Garner and one of the suspects occurred prior to Garner being shot.

The investigation into Garner’s homicide is active and ongoing, including the execution of a search warrant on June 7 at a home on the 1100 block of South Champion Avenue on the city’s South Side. Detectives recovered multiple firearms and other items of potential evidentiary value from that home.

Anyone with information on Garner’s homicide is asked to call Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS, use the free P3 Tips mobile application or submit information online at www.stopcrime.org. All tips to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and a special coding system is used to provide the reward. Crime Stoppers does not use caller ID or record phone conversations. bbruner@dispatch.com @bethany_bruner
