Edward Eugene “Gene” Gallagher, Jr.,

COLUMBUS - Edward Eugene Gallagher, Jr., age 90, passed away peacefully, Monday, January 30, 2023 at Carroll Place Assisted Living Community. Gene was born on February 24, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio. He was the loving husband of the late Patricia M. (Mantz) Gallagher and son of the late Leota (Teele) and E. Eugene Gallagher, Sr.

Gene was a graduate of North High School, Class of 1949 and then attended The Ohio State University, majoring in conservati­on. He was a decorated Eagle Scout and a veteran of the United States Air Force (1951-1954). He was employed by the US Government, DCSC, in Columbus, Ohio, where he retired as Lead Computer Specialist at the DLA Systems Automation Center. He loved his family, going to Mass daily, his Irish Setters (Bridget, Sean, and Timothy), The OSU Buckeyes, computers, and reading.

He is survived by his sons, Brian Gallagher, of Amanda, OH, Sean Gallagher, of Columbus, OH, Tony (Sheila) Perkins, of Bucyrus, OH. He’s also survived by grandchild­ren, Stephani Holloway of Cincinnati, OH, Pete and Lisa (Perkins) Mckinley of Gainesvill­e, FL, Sam (Bianca) Perkins of Melbourne, AU, Barb Perkins of Toledo OH, Rob Perkins of FL, Robert (John) and Roberta Jo (Holloway) Hamson of Bowen Island, Vancouver, CA, Christophe­r Perkins of Ft Myers, FL, and Ben and Sarah (Gallagher) Caplan, of Chillicoth­e, OH; sister, Beryl G. Chickerell­a of Dublin, OH and brother, P. Robert Gallagher of Nashville, TN; many great-grandchild­ren, greatgreat grandchild­ren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded In death by his sons Michael and Peter, stepdaught­er, Cynthia Holloway, step-son Bruce Perkins, grandsons Henry (Hank) Holloway and Leonard Perkins; and nephew Jeff Scott.

A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 Mccoy Road, Columbus, OH.
