Stephanie Elaine Walter Darling passed away on February 6, 2023 in Silver Spring, Maryland at age 78. Stephanie leaves behind her husband of 49 years, Lowell Darling, and their two children, Jacob (Becky) Darling, of Charlotte, NC, and their children Cate, Drew, Jane Ramsey, and Gabe; and Faith (Sasha Lourie) Darling, of Silver Spring, MD, and their children Lucy, Ingrid and Ellie Lourie. Stephanie was born in Mansfield, Ohio on August 4, 1944, to Robert C. Walter and Elaine D. Walter. She was the oldest of her three siblings, Robert D. Walter, Mary Lynne Burleson, and Monika Wyborny. Stephanie earned her undergradu­ate degree from the University of Dayton, and a Masters’s from The Ohio State University. She pursued her calling in teaching and was a dedicated educator, spending much of her career teaching math in Weymouth, Massachuse­tts. After retiring she continued to volunteer at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Weymouth and was very involved in the Weymouth and Massachuse­tts retired teachers associatio­ns. Stephanie always put her family first but also went out of her way to make sure that people knew when they were doing a good job. She was a lifelong learner, who also learned the interests of family and friends so that she could engage them in conversati­on. Stephanie accumulate­d many hobbies and enjoyed cooking, knitting, sewing, rooting for the Boston Red Sox, and crafting. In retirement, she enjoyed taking adventures, whether it was traveling to Europe with friends or one of the many driving tours through New England and Maryland she took with Lowell. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Friday, February 10, 2023 at SCHOEDINGE­R NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 684 S 3rd Street, Columbus, Ohio 43206 on February 11, 2023 at 10 AM. A memorial service will take place at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church on February 18 at 10am in Weymouth for family and friends to celebrate her life in her adopted state of Massachuse­tts.
