- Neil B. Elmer, age 92, passed away peacefully at his home with family by his side on February 5, 2023. Neil’s life will always be remembered and cherished as a legacy of love, loyalty and honor. He was born September 1, 1930 as the only child of Edward and Mabel Elmer in Jefferson City, Missouri. Neil’s parents instilled in him a love of country, a spirit of kindness and eyes to see the potential in others. Neil graduated from Jefferson City High School and Missouri Valley College where his interests were football, track and music. He was a member of the De Molay, the Masonic Order and Sigma Nu Fraternity. After graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps for the Korean Conflict. Upon returning to the United States, he met Nancy Barkwell of Grand Rapids, MI, a student at Lindenwood College for Women. They were married August 6, 1955. Upon moving from Grand Rapids, MI to Columbus, OH in 1958, he founded The Neil Elmer Company, a manufactur­er representa­tive company in the printing and packaging industry. Neil & Nancy had three wonderful children, Carol (Bill Gray, children, Anna, Zachary, Katie and Luke), Katherine Sue (Benton Benalcazar, children, Beni and Gabriela) and John (Carmen Elmer (Kitzmiller), daughter, Angelica). Neil & Nancy have seven grandchild­ren and six great-grandchild­ren. The Elmer family enjoyed many years of golf and tennis at the Worthingto­n Hills Country Club. Neil and Nancy are members of the Liberty Presbyteri­an Church where visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 pm with a Memorial Service immediatel­y following on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
