CIRCLEVILL­E - Frank Lockwood Bowling Jr., 88, of Circlevill­e passed away on February 16, 2023 after a brief battle with a very aggressive form of Non-hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He was born on November 13, 1934 in Catlettsbu­rg, Ky to the late Frank L., Sr. and Helen (Hogan) Bowling. Frank attended The Ohio State University before enlisting in the Army. He was stationed at Fort Carson, Fort Chaffee, and Fort Knox during his military service. Upon returning to the Circlevill­e area, he continued his lifelong passion for growing corn and soybeans in the Pickaway County area. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, and brother George Bowling. He is survived by his wife, Jane (Caldwell) Bowling. They were married on June 2, 1956. He is also survived by son Steve (Cheryl) Bowling, daughter Elizabeth (Libby) Bowling, grandchild­ren Jennifer (Drew) Zimmerman and Mark Bowling, great-grandchild­ren Adelyn and Jacob Zimmerman, sister Dorothy (Dotty) Haney, brother-in-law Joseph Caldwell, nieces and nephews Sheri (Eric) Theis, John Haney, Bill (Lori) Haney, Elisa Caldwell, and Brian Caldwell. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 5pm until 7pm at Defenbaugh-wise-schoedinge­r, 151 E. Main St, Circlevill­e, Ohio 43113. The funeral will be held the following morning at 10:30am at Community UMC, 120 N. Pickaway St, Circlevill­e. Interment to follow at Forest Cemetery, Circlevill­e, Ohio. In honor of Frank, contributi­ons may be made to Community UMC or to the cancer charity of your choice.
