Marchenko continues to shine for Blue Jackets

- Brian Hedger

Blue Jackets rookie Kirill Marchenko’s two goals in Saturday’s 6-5 win over Edmonton pushed his season total to 16 to give him sole possession of second place among NHL rookie goal-scorers. His scoring line is 16-1-17 in just 36 games.

Marchenko, Johnny Gaudreau and Boone Jenner are also developing chemistry as the top forward line and appear to be a combination that could stick together for a while.

“I have good partners, Johnny and Boone, and they help me with a couple good passes,” Marchenko said. “It’s good for me and I love it. It’s just … we try and keep (working hard) and we go forecheck, backcheck. I love it.”

Roslovic breaks goal drought

Jack Roslovic is in the middle of another

inconsistent season that could become reminiscent of last year’s if he goes on a scoring tear down the final stretch.

He got off to a great start Saturday

with a four-point breakout on two goals and two assists, scoring the winner with a laser to cap a 2-on-1 rush with Patrik Laine.

“It was kind of a selfish play, not passing it to me on a 2-on-1, but that’s just typical Jack,” Laine joked. “I would’ve been (ticked) at him if he didn’t score, but … no, I was obviously happy for him. He’s had a tough year, scoring-wise, and I’m just happy for everyone here who gets a goal – and especially for Jack. He’s been working hard and getting chances, but he hasn’t been able to score. So, he had a great night.” BLUE JACKETS 6, OILERS 5
