CARROLL - Joann Dale Bachman of Carroll, Ohio passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Bickford Senior Living. She was 83 years old. Joann was born on July 30, 1939 in Pickaway County, Ohio to her parents Glen and Lucy Fausnaugh and was the youngest of four. Joann graduated from Jackson Township High School in 1957 where she was a varsity cheerleade­r. Joann was a very active 4-H member, showing dairy cattle as well as exhibiting sewing and cooking projects. While showing at the Pickaway County Fair, she met the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Bachman, and they were married for 64 years. Joann and Dick had two sons, Richard Gregg and Brian Lynn. Joann spent nearly 20 years in banking, beginning as a teller and ending her career as a manager. After stepping away from the bank, she opened the Apple House in Canal Winchester, which was a year-round farm market and managed the books for the family apple orchard. Joann was an involved member of David Evangelica­l Lutheran Church in Canal Winchester. In retirement, Joann and Dick enjoyed attending their grandchild­ren’s activities, going to breakfast with good friends and spending winters in Florida. Joann was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Lucy Fausnaugh; brothers, Robert and James Fausnaugh; sister Beulah Temple; son, Brian Bachman; and husband, Richard (Dick) Bachman. Joann leaves behind her son, Gregg (Christi) Bachman; daughter-in-law, Cheryl (Doug) Majors; grandchild­ren, Krystin (Brady) Miller, Justin (Amber) Bachman, Leanna (Sam) Tennant, Jordan (Kipley) Bachman, Brandon Bachman and Lacie Bachman. Great grandchild­ren include Karson, Baylee and Konnor Miller, Colton Tennant, Levi and Lainey Bachman, Brilee Bachman and one on the way. Joann will be long remembered for her excellent cooking, especially with apples, love of sewing and quilting and her competitiv­e spirit while playing a good hand of euchre. Calling hours will be Monday, March 6 from 5-8 pm at Dwayne Spence Funeral Home in Canal Winchester. Guests can also visit the family from 10-11am at David Evangelica­l Lutheran Church on Tuesday, March 7 prior to the funeral service which begins at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joann’s memory to David Evangelica­l Lutheran Church or FAIRHOPE Hospice and Palliative Care.
