NEW ALBANY - Joseph “Jerry” Rossman, a beloved husband, father, grandfathe­r, brother, and friend, passed away on March 1, 2023, in Miami, Florida, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 89 years old. Jerry was born on November 8, 1933, in Cleveland, Ohio, and spent most of his childhood there. He married the love of his life, Evelyn, on November 1, 1959, and they were blessed to share 63 wonderful years together. Jerry was a successful entreprene­ur and founder of Rossman and Company in Columbus, Ohio, which he establishe­d in 1961. He earned his undergradu­ate degree summa cum laude from Capital University in 1979, and went on to receive a law degree in 1986. Jerry’s achievemen­ts were many, but he was especially proud of co-founding Damon’s, a bar and restaurant famous for its delicious BBQ ribs and onion loaf, with his brother Irving. He was a hard worker, often found in his home office surrounded by law books and paperwork. In his free time, Jerry enjoyed staying active with boxing, handball, and racketball. He also had a love for watching movies, with The Godfather and Scarface being among his favorites. He appreciate­d a good Cuban cigar and was often found listening to Frank Sinatra. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Rossman; sons, Kevin (Linda) Rossman and Brad Rossman; daughter, Sheryl (Neal) Golding; brother, Irving Rossman; sister, Gilda Magid; and grandchild­ren, Elliott and Ilyse Golding, and Chloe and Derek Rossman. A private family graveside ceremony will be held, and the family respectful­ly requests no Shiva visitors. In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons in Jerry’s memory may be made to Tunnels to Tower Foundation.
