DUBLIN - Dr. Arthur T. “Art” Koch of Dublin, Ohio passed away peacefully on February 25, 2023 at the age of 81. Art was born on September 28, 1941 in Buffalo, New York where he was raised by his parents Arthur and Lorraine who proceed him in death. Art is survived by his beloved Valerie Hiduk, children Eric (Carolyn), Ellen, Ian, and Christian (Amanda), grandchild­ren Alexandra (Vince), Elizabeth (Anthony), Henry, John and Aaron, and great-grandchild­ren Indiana, Alexander and Robert.

Art spent his youth growing up on the southside of Buffalo and spent much of his free time in Cazenovia Park. As a child he enjoyed ice hockey, strategy games and tinkering with his Chemistry sets which would serve him later in life especially as examples for the importance of laboratory safety.

Art graduated from Canisius High School followed by Canisius College with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He went to graduate school where he earned his Masters Degree in Organic Chemistry from The Ohio State University and he received his PHD in Education from Nova University specializi­ng in what was then Distance Learning and later evolved to what is now Online Education.

Art started his teaching career as a Professor of Chemistry at the College of St. Mary of the Springs which is now Ohio Dominican University. During his 40 year career he touched many students with his wit and sense of humor and served on several committees as well as acting as the long time Chair of the Science Department. Along with several different Chemistry courses he enjoyed teaching Humanities classes in which he could incorporat­e his passion for History.
