Dr. Rex Buller

Rex D. Buller, DVM, known to many as “Doc”, graduated peacefully into heaven surrounded by family on Saturday, March 4, 2023. Born on January 19, 1936, Rex was the oldest son of Harmon J. and Maxie (Carey) Buller of Fairmount, IN. It was in that small town that the late Doc Carter sparked Rex’s love of veterinary medicine. A 1961 graduate of the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Buller taught at OSU from 1962-1972, after which he went into private practice caring for both large and small animals on area farms and at his clinics in Mt. Sterling and Harrisburg. Dr. Buller served on the Admissions Committee for the OSU Vet School, the Pickaway County Board of Health, Pickaway County Central Committee and enjoyed the fellowship of the Derby Men’s Club as well as Derby United Methodist Church. Dr. Buller saw patients right until the end living out his belief that his career was also his hobby. Known to be a good listener and patient with both his two and four-legged clients, he valued all those who contribute­d to his wonderful life. Preceded in death by brother John Buller and sister Susie (Buller) Bolinger. Dr. Buller is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Martha Jo; daughter Melissa (Howard) Fickel of Columbus; daughter Abigail Buller of Columbus and special friend, Harold “Champ” Henson; nieces and nephews, many lifelong friends including Mike Manuel, and the Wittich Family. Private interment will be held in Wilmington, Ohio. A celebratio­n of life will be held on Saturday, March 11 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Village Animal Clinic in Harrisburg.
