Don passed away peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2023. He was born in Columbus, OH on November 12, 1927, to Martin and Marie Cahill. Don was the fourth of fourteen children. He is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, six sisters, his loving wife, Marty and his granddaugh­ter, Corey Cahill Snyder. He is survived by his sons Jan and Jack (Margaret); his daughters Lisa (Doug) Sands and Lynn (Gary) Grishkevic­h; grandchild­ren; great grandchild­ren; sister Miriam (George) Spangler; many nieces and nephews; his loving companion, Dot Bromley and Friend, Bob Evans.

Don was a graduate of Holy Family and a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a founding member of St. Matthias Parish in Columbus, OH, member of the Holy Family Alumni Associatio­n and former member of the Knights of Columbus. He retired from Conrail in 1989 after 43 years. He was a longtime snowbird resident of Whispering Palms in Sebastian, FL where he continued his lifelong enjoyment of playing golf and collecting an enviable nine holes-in-one.

We are especially grateful to Lynn and Gary for making their home Dad’s home for these many years. A special thanks to Capitol City Hospice for helping make Dad’s final days comfortabl­e.

The family will receive visitors from 5 to 8 PM Friday, March 10 at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43215. The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 11 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 584 W. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43215 followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
