Lovato, Pitbull, Caamp to headline Wonderbus

- Belinda M. Paschal

Big names and local rising stars will take the stage in August, when the Wonderbus Music & Arts Festival rolls into Columbus for its fourth year.

Held on the lawn of CAS, 2540 Olentangy River Road, the weekend of music, art, activities for all ages, education, food and more will run Aug. 25-27, featuring performances on multiple stages, with a different headliner each day. Tickets for the festival go on sale at noon Monday at wonderbusfest.com.

Opening the festival on Aug. 25, Pitbull

will bring his danceable mix of Latin hip-pop to the stage with support from artists including Sean Kingston. The following day, Demi Lovato will headline, with performances by more than 10 additional acts.

The third and final day of Wonderbus will feature several homegrown musical acts, most notably Caamp, a folk band that includes childhood friends and Upper Arlington graduates Evan Westfall and Taylor Meier.

After working their way through the local music circuit including two soldout shows at Kemba Live in 2021, Caamp has become a headlining act in numerous cities including Columbus, where they performed last year at Nationwide Arena.

Two other musicians from Columbus also are on the Aug. 27 roster at Wonderbus: Joey Aich, an independent hip-hop artist whose latest release is “Open Treehouse,” and Parker Louis, a popular R&b/soul singer and guitarist whose credits include opening for Caamp at Nationwide Arena.

In addition, Portugal. The Man, known for its hit, “Feel It Still,” will perform on Aug. 27, along with several other artists.

The entire weekend also will promote awareness of innovation in mental health education, treatment and research. Five dollars from every adult general admission, general admissionplus and VIP ticket will benefit The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health and On Our Sleeves, a national movement to break stigmas around children’s mental health powered by Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

A variety of adult and student passes and tickets will be offered, as well as specially priced tickets for children 3-10 years old. Children 2 and younger will be admitted for free. For information about passes and prices, visit the Wonderbus website.
